AUDIT & RISK MANAGER

Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL) is a State-Owned Enterprise that provides Compulsory Third Party Insurance to all vehicle owners in Papua New Guinea. MVIL is now looking to recruit a highly- capable and experienced Audit & Risk Manager to be based at our Head Office in Port Moresby. 

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and responsible for developing and implementing a risk-based annual audit plan and execute audits covering all aspects of MVIL’s operations, assessing business processes and risks and evaluating internal controls to provide an independent appraisal of MVIL’s internal control environment. 

You will be expected to: 
•      Manage the Audit and Risk Office team and ensure that the risk-based annual audit plan and objectives are implemented adequately and in a cost-effective manner. 
•      Review current audit & risk function including risk policy & procedures, and update these in line with current best risk practice. 
•      Prepare annual budget for Audit & Risk Department and maintain fiscal responsibility for the budget. 
•      Develop and review audit programs based on risk criteria. 
•      Identify risk, treat and monitor and implement a risk assessment program. 
•      Plan and direct investigations and verification of fraudulent and suspicious insurance claims. 
•      Audit all of MVIL activities targeting risk areas; and conduct internal investigations into incidents at MVIL. 

Preferred skills, knowledge and abilities: 
•      Minimum of three (3) years' related-work experience. 
•      Have leadership and management experience, and be able to work with all levels of staff. 
•      Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, commerce, finance or related discipline. 
•      Integrity and Ethics is a must. 
•      Positive attitude and strong skills in MS Office Suite. 
•      Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
•      A team player and ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines. 
•      Strong organization and people management skills.
