MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited (MVIL) is a State-Owned Enterprise that provides Compulsory Third Party Insurance to all vehicle owners in Papua New Guinea. MVIL is now seeking to recruit a highly capable and experienced Management Accountant to be based at MVIL Headquarters in Port Moresby.
This position reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for preparing and analysing MVIL’s management accounts, including monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
reports.
You will be expected to:
- Manage monthly and quarterly Management Accounts in a timely manner;
- Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, providing commentary on results and trends;
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, coordinating with department heads to ensure accuracy and alignment.
- Prepare management dashboards and KPI reports;
- Monitor and analyze operating costs, margins, and profitability, recommending improvements;
- Conduct financial performance reviews and provide forward-looking analysis;
- Maintain management reporting schedules and ensure data consistency;
- Perform year-end General Ledger (YTD) adjustments;
- Oversee and supervise accounts staff for timely delivery of management reports.
Preferred skills, knowledge and abilities:
- Minimum of 5 years' related-work experience.
- Have team leadership experience, and be able to work with all levels of staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related discipline.
- Integrity and Ethics is a must.
- Experience with Pronto Systems Finance Module.
- Positive attitude and strong skills in MS Office Suite.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- A team player and ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Strong organisation and people management skills.
